Demi Lovato took history-making Virginia state legislator Danica Roem as her date to the American Music Awards on Sunday night (19Nov17).

Roem recently became the first transgender state legislator in the U.S. and she was rewarded by a big night out in Los Angeles.

Hitting the red carpet outside the Microsoft Theater on Sunday afternoon, Demi confessed she'd only met Danica minutes before at their hotel, but she was thrilled to be at the ceremony with a history maker.

President Robert Mugabe is insisting he remains Zimbabwe’s only legitimate ruler, an intelligence source said on Thursday, and is resisting mediation by a Catholic priest to allow the 93-year-old former guerrilla a graceful exit after a military coup.



The priest, Fidelis Mukonori, is acting as a middle-man between Mugabe and the generals, who seized power on Wednesday in a targeted operation against “criminals” in his entourage, a senior political source told Reuters.

The source could not provide details of the talks, which appear to be aimed at a smooth and bloodless transition after the departure of Mugabe, who has led Zimbabwe since independence in 1980.

Mugabe, still seen by many Africans as a liberation hero, is reviled in the West as a despot whose disastrous handling of the economy and willingness to resort to violence to maintain power destroyed one of Africa’s most promising states.

A 22- year-old woman in Udon Thani, Thailand has been charged with murder after she admitted  stabbing her 62- year- old husband to death.

Argument ensued between Nittaya Saengdeuan and Amnuay Wensila after she found a condom in his trouser pocket and thought he was having an affair.

Saengdeuan stabbed Wensila multiple times until he was dead. She then stuffed his still warm corpse into a septic tank behind their garage.

Nittaya initially denied any involvement. But under intense interrogation she broke down and admitted what she had done and was then taken on a reenactment of her crime.

United States lays claim to $300m Abacha loot

The United States has laid claim to $300 million stashed abroad by Nigeria's late military dictator, Sani Abacha.

According to reports, America allegedly told a court in an unnamed foreign country that it had an interest in the loot because it was saved in its currency, the US dollar. Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami (SAN) and rights activist Mr Femi Falana (SAN) made the claims in Lagos.

Falana also accused the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) of failing to remit over $21.7 billion since 1999. He urged the Federal Government to extend efforts to recover looted funds to “the few Nigerians who have been indicted in the Panama and Paradise papers. The EFCC and the Federal Inland Revenue Service should recover appropriate taxes from the offshore companies set up by such individuals,” Falana said.

250 People Die Of Snake Bite In Plateau And Gombe Due To Scarcity Of Anti-Venom

Two hundred and fifty victims of snake bite have died in the last three weeks in Plateau and Gombe States, according to a tally given by three medical centres.

The usually preventable deaths followed an acute scarcity of snake anti-venom drugs in the country.

The figure represents the number of confirmed deaths from three snake treatment centres – General Hospital, Kaltungo, Ali Mega Pharmacy, Gombe and Comprehensive Medical Centre, Zamko, Plateau State.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who visited the three medical centres, met other victims in critical conditions, with some of them left on bare floor as the doctors said they were helpless without the anti-venom.

NAN reports that the snake anti-venom drugs – Echitab Plus ICP polyvalent and Echitab G monovalent – had not been supplied to the country since August, throwing the treatment centres into crisis after the last vials were used up in the first week of October.

Echitab Plus ICP, produced at Instituto Clodomiro Picado, University of Costa Rica, treats bites from all venomous snakes in Nigeria, while Echitab G, produced by Micropharm Ltd, United Kingdom, is solely for carpet viper bites.

Medics, who spoke with NAN at the three treatment centres, said that the cases of snake bites were usually very common during the harvest season.

19-yr-old murders his teacher in the classroom, takes a selfie with the corpse, then commits suicide (Graphic photos)

A 19-year-old Moscow college student stabbed his teacher to death following a dispute in the classroom then he went on to take a selfie of himself smiling over the dead body.
Andrey Emelyanenkov had a dispute with his Basic Safety teacher, Sergey Danilov this morning. He then waited for the school break between lessons to attack. As soon as other students left the class, Andrey brought out the knife and launched the attack.
As the teacher lay in a pool of his blood, the unrepentant student took photos of the dead body and posted it online. But he did not stop there. He went on to commit suicide seconds after he posted the photo.
When the police arrived, they found a knife and a chainsaw next to the bodies of Andrey and his teacher.
